leaps behind a piece of heavy furniture. Audrey turns to Irwin.
AUDREY
(gulps)
I think
this guy's a few clowns
short of a circus.
Irwin is laughing now.
IRWIN
Miles,
you kill me! Hee hee!
AUDREY
Don't
give him any ideas!!
Miles peeks over the edge
of the furniture.
MILES
Why
haven't you exploded yet?
Irwin is laughing, and
Audrey hasn't the faintest idea of what's going on.
AUDREY
What's
so funny? Answer the man!
Why haven't we exploded?
MILES
So!
You ARE bombs!
AUDREY
No!
We're the Kirkabees!!
MILES
The
who?
IRWIN
(laughing)
No,
they're a rock band!
MILES
What!?
IRWIN
Nope,
he's on second!
(more laughter)
Miles comes closer.
MILES
You're
not the invaders then, are
you? I was right. You are too
stupid to be aliens.
IRWIN
Aliens?
(more laughter)
MILES
Much
too stupid.
(he laughs)
AUDREY
(laughing
nervously)
Absolute
morons!!
They are all laughing
now, and the laugher builds as everyone releases the tension. Miles is encouraging
them to laugh. He suddenly fires the revolver into the ceiling. Audrey and
Irwin stop laughing immediately.
